What a week...
I've been selected for jury duty and it's been totally draining--and it doesn't help that nearly every night this week I've had a rehearsal or string quartet performance. It's not over either; I have three gigs this weekend and jury duty continues through at least July 9th. So I guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect too much knitting progress over here. :)
I did, however, bring my sewing machine in for service last weekend and it made a huge difference! So much so that I was able to make a skirt:

Sorry about the bad lighting and general blurriness.
It's the basic A-line skirt from Sew What! Skirts. It's really a great book because you make your own pattern based on your measurements. The only mistake that I made was actually using my waist measurement even though I wear skirts below my waist. So this one's a bit high-waisted for me, but it still fits fine.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

It's a rainy day
A rainy weekend is the perfect time to catalog the stash. I determined that I really don't have that much yarn--mostly leftovers and random skeins that I purchased a long time ago. I tried to explain this to my husband when he saw all of the yarn sitting on the living room floor, and he didn't seem too convinced that I had a small stash. :)
I've also been working on the Silk Camisole from Last Minute Knitted Gifts in my hand-dyed silk yarn from The Sanguine Gryphon.
Not much to see yet, but since it's mostly miles of stockinette in the round, it (hopefully) won't take too long to finish!

Cap Sleeved Top
Ta da!
(Edited to remove this super dark picture. Oops!)
Pattern: Cap Sleeved Top from Debbie Bliss' Pure Silk
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cathay
Notes: It fits! I was anxious about the fit after two other tops from the same book came out too big. I would suggest going by the finished measurements rather than the suggested sizes, as they seem to include a lot of ease. The top is still somewhat loose fitting even though I went down a size. I love the neat little cap sleeves:
But I don't like the seam on the top of the sleeves:
I should have taken Laura's advice and done short rows rather than the bind off in the pattern, but I was too lazy. It's really not that bad when I'm wearing it though, and it still needs a post-seaming blocking, so that may help.
I've already cast on for another fun summer top--the Silk Camisole from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Pictures coming soon!
